Just curious.. apparently google says it is rare!? My children are having a dose right now and I have got symptoms tonight. I had it as a child. Is it possible to have it twice?

Yes, Dd had it twice. The first time quit mildly, not so much the second time!

wasiwrongtoask · 08/06/2022 21:50

Yes I had it twice, second time was at around 12 years old though and had a lot more spots!

Yodaisawally · 08/06/2022 21:50

My kids kid, very mild first time around only a few spots age 2, had it again age 5 and ended up in hospital.

Heli1copter · 08/06/2022 21:50

My eldest DC got it for a second time very mildly (4 spots, that was it) when younger DC had it. I've heard if you have a mild infection first time it can mean your immunity isn't as strong upon re-exposure

SkyLarkDescending · 08/06/2022 21:51

My DD (3yrs) has it right now and I'm sure she had it as a baby. She's pretty well covered and has a fever with it too.

Dollgiraffe · 08/06/2022 21:52

My two have had it twice. Once at 18mths and 32mth then again at 4 and 5. Unbelievable 🤦🏻‍♀️

urrrgh46 · 08/06/2022 21:56

My eldest Dd has had it twice. First time age 3 - absolutely covered in it. Second time when youngest siblings had it. She had fewer pox that time but was more unwell and fatigued for several weeks.

urrrgh46 · 08/06/2022 21:57

Should have added she was 12 when she got it the second time.

Catonaroof · 08/06/2022 21:58

I had it about age 7, then again in my early 20s. Second time round was worse but not awful, but the woman I sat next to at work was about four weeks pregnant and I remember it causing a bit of a stir at the time.

FLOWER1983 · 08/06/2022 21:58

Yes , i was 15 the first time and 33 the second time

ChuckMater · 08/06/2022 21:58

Yes

littleblackno · 08/06/2022 22:00

Yes my DS had it twice- first very mild aged about 1. Second time worse aged about 3. He then got shingles aged 7 and was really poorly.

AllTheMonacles · 08/06/2022 22:01

DS3 has had it three times. The first two were really mild cases, just a few spots. The last time he had a lot more spots.

One of the parents from my DC's school has no immunity to chicken pox, she's had it about 30 times.

PunchyAnts · 08/06/2022 22:01

Yes - had a dose as a child and then caught it from my DD. Absolutely knocked me for six as an adult.

saliwales2022 · 08/06/2022 22:04

I had chickenpox as an adult, caught it off my daughter. Please get your thyroid checked because it wrecked mine!

Floorandflooringme · 08/06/2022 22:10

Yes two of mine did. Both had it milder the second time. They were both checked by doctor to confirm as one is immunocompromised. The Dr said it's rare but happens. Just unlucky.

HiKelsey · 08/06/2022 22:12

Yeah I had a mild case with a few spots when little and a few years later when my younger sister caught it I did a second time. Second time was worse spots EVERYWHERE! GP diagnosed both as chickenpox and were very surprised I'd already had it once
