internal pain in right side above hip bone but below rib cage

it really hurts when I walk and if I try to straighten up.
If I don't move it hurts a little bit but when I do move it is like a sharp knife pain.
Bowel movements have been as normal.
no other symptoms
Have had a look on various anatomy websites to see if there is something particular in that part of my body but it doesn't look like there is anything other than the large intestine.

Any medical guys around?

not medical but ive had similar this morning, i put it down to sleeping awkward or stretching funny, take some ibuprofen and u will probs be as right as rain tonight

thanks loopy - I have sat here searching the internet for colon cancer and stuff - Not that I am a hypercondriac

oooo see now maybe ive been misinformed, ive clicked off that page before my hypochondriac anxious tendancys come out u feeling any better yet? did the painkillers help?

Hi jen, it could be lots of things such as pulled muscle. etc.
If you start to feel sick, have a temp, pain goes to the other side, see DR as this could be appendicitis. This can be the same even without other syptoms.
It could also be a kidney infection, again check temp.
