Long Covid - so fed up

I’ve been ill for coming up for 2 years.

I know I’m not the only person in the world who’s ill, but I am really fed up with just not getting better.

I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to go to work, go back to the gym, do a supermarket shop, or go to a concert again.

I feel like I’m grieving my now and my future.

I understand you completely because I have the same problem. I had Covid on February 2021, the infamous Delta, before vaccines came. I was really sick for 10 days. And I never recovered completely. I can't do cardio anymore, my long cycling and hiking trips are over because I get arrhythmia when I work out. I sweat with the smallest effort and get tired all the time for no reason. I went through a hundred medical tests and they can't find what's wrong with me. But I am not myself anymore. I want to go back to when I was able to live a normal life, go out, travel... I get sick after a short walk and I can't bear being in the office 8 hours like before as it exhausts me. My GP says it's all in my head because there is no physical disease, and all my tests are perfect. I miss my old life...

@Antares444 me too. used to love running etc now I just walk. Weird hot sweats pounding heart. Palpitations randomly if I overdo it :(

@Antares444 does your GP not understand post viral illness! I also got ill before the vaccine rollout

ive had equally inhelpful blood tests- but no gaslighting like you. I’m taken seriously but just told they don’t know how to help me… I usually know more than all the doctors about long Covid.

I’m really frustrated the nhs won’t pay for proper investigations like they’re doing in some other countries eg, looking forward microclots. (I know this is similar in other illnesses)

im facing losing the career I worked so hard to train for. Life feels like it’s full of lots of things I cannot do! The suddenness is so difficult to comprehend.

I am in my mid 40s. I just don’t know how to keep going or what to DO. I’m stuck with no path out of here!

@Odessafile ive got used to the palpitations and they’re not as bad as they used to be.

Have you had all your levels checked? My B12 was bottomed out and my Iron levels too, I take a cocktail of vitamins and supplements now and it's really helping.

I live abroad (Balkans) and there are no proper investigations here for Long Covid, this is a country where they dismiss patients all the time blaming mental issues. once I had swollen lymph in my neck, as big as a plum and she said it was stress. Turned out I had a huge inner ear infection without pain and was on antibiotics for a month. Really terrible health care.
Long Covid for her is "stress", "demanding job", "problems to handle situations".
