how do you find a pediatrician? GP says he can't prescribe Domperidone

DS has relfux and is on ranitidene but this doesn't seem to be helping, our GP says that he needs to try domperidone which could help him but that it is only prescribed through a pediatrician - we are waiting for an NHS appt which could take a few weeks so I was wondering how I find one privately that we could see quicker - any advice? We are in SW London

We're in SW London as well and I know there's a notice up at DS's nursery about a private pediatrician practice. Sadly can't remember the details but if no one else gets back to you I'll look them up tomorrow.

I didnt realise they could not prescribe it I'm sure once it is prescribed they can then repeat it though.

NO suggestions i'm afraid, other than call the paed out patients department, explain whats happened and see if you can be slotted in early, or if a cancellation coms up. Maybe even call the secretary of the Dr you are due to see at the hospital and explain to him/her. I did this with my DD who was being seen for her hip problems, and she was very helpful. relayed all my conversation with the consultant and they saw me the following clinic. worth a try? good luck

ring your local hospitals, pediatric department. Ask which of their doctors take private panients.

Good luck

Many consultant paeds have private practices. Lisad's idea is a good one. Or ring the people on this site and they will find a paed for you www.hcaconnect.co.uk/Default.asp

most private docs work at NHS too, so handy to know. My surgeon did nhs and pivate

kittypower · 14/01/2008 08:29

Does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to go and see one privately?

i'd phone the sect. of the doc you are seeing, explain that the gp has said you need domperidone but cant perscribe it, and can the consulatant possibly write out a perscribtion for you, for you to collect.
