colorectal pain and concerns

Hi
Just wondering if anyone has any similar experience to share or advice. I have for years now been suffering with constipation but in recent months I fluctuate between very loose stools and constipation. Just doesnt ever seem to be a normal motion.

I am 50 and on hrt with atrophy, mild prolapse and pelvic floor disfunction. I have a grade one rectocele and haemorroids. Had a colonoscopy three years ago, was fine and doctor said it is safe to use suppositories everyday as I dont fully empty. Trouble is, I am always left with an ache, as if there is still stool in my rectum even after suppositories or after loose or firm bm. I am so tired of constantly having pain up my bum. I have a sharp pain near the appendix area since september and have finally been referred to colorectal dept at hosp. Feeling really worried that my inability to empty my bowels and endless relentless problem with bowels will end up with me getting colorectal cancer.

I do follow all the advice, tried upping the fibre, squatting, fluids, movicol, good diet etc. Probiotics, kefir , sauerkraut, cutting out insoluble fibre, the list goes on. I am just stuck, dont know what to eat or do anymore and always worrying.

Thanks for listening

When you say pelvic floor dysfunction do you mean hypertonic? Overtight PF muscles can cause a pain like that as everything gets a bit pinched, including nerves. It can be exacerbated by going to the toilet too.

Heghodge thanks, I saw that mentioned on my medical notes. I definitely don't have hypertonic pf muscles, as verified by two physios.

Just wondering how you’re getting on? I have had a similar experience, I’m 10 months postpartum, but also had a ruptured appendix 4 months ago. I suppose your appendix is a part of your bowel so that could be my reason for a newfound dodgy tummy/bowels.
