Doctor or dentist?

I've got a small spot/lump at the back of my mouth/soft palate. I've been aware of it for maybe 6 weeks. It was barely visible until I looked at it today, and now it's angry red looking. It feels irritated but isn't painful.
I've also now got some blood blister type spots inside my cheek on the same side and one white spot on the back of my throat. Possibly entirely unrelated, obviously!
DH is on at me to see someone about it but he said I should make a dentist appointment as it relates to oral health. I think a GP might be my best bet, although tbh getting an appointment with either will be tricky!

GP asap.
My. DP had what he thought was a mouth ulcer on his tongue, but it didn't go away. Went to gp and two days later he was called to hospital.
He had a preliminary diagnosis of pre cancer which following biopsy afterwards turned out to be cancer.
Removal of 'mouth ulcer' followed very quickly and also the lymph glands in throat as a precaution.
Touch wood he will be fine but get it looked at PDQ - please

No it's not a GP.

It's the dentist. A dentist is literally a doctor of the mouth.

We send referrals off. Book in with your GP.

I meant book in with your DENTIST. Not a GP.

MrsGluck · 29/05/2022 13:07

Dentist. They can diagnose, prescribe, refer you on if needed.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll give the dentist a call tomorrow. Was hoping GP was the answer, that's free 🙃
