Carpal tunnel?

Hi, about 4 months after having my baby I started getting numb hands while sleeping which wake me up and I have to spend some time flexing them to get the feeling back. I find it happens less if I keep my arms straight. My hands also sometimes twinge when I do certain tasks, and sometimes ache. The GP said it’s carpal tunnel and told me to buy some wrist splints to wear at night, I did but they’re so annoying to wear and make it so I can’t sleep so I stopped wearing them, they didn’t seem to make a difference anyway. I will contact the GP again but I just wondered has anyone else experienced this? Will it go away?

it seems to have been caused by repetitive strain, making up bottles, washing bottles, pushing the pram and of course holding my baby. As I’m on mat leave and therefore the main carer I can’t stop these things.

it’s not the end of the world but I’m worried it could get worse or never go away, or that I’ve been misdiagnosed and it’s something more serious.

thanks

@Cafeaulait27 I have carpal tunnel, it’s hard to say whether it will go away or not. I’ve had it for over 10 years and during that time I’ve had long periods where it has gone away. Currently I’m at the stage where it’s getting worse so have asked for steroid injections as I’ve been splinting them on and off for years now and it only helps so much. Speak to your GP and see what they say, they may suggest an anti inflammatory painkiller like naproxen (didn’t work for me) or steroid injections.
