I often get this. No idea what causes it, as I'm not remotely prone to anxiety, but it usually disappears within a couple of days.

Electriq · 23/05/2022 21:39

I have low frequency tinnitus, I can hear my heartbeat, always thought it was normal too.
Ive had all the tests and MRIs no issues found.
There are lots of self help treatments, like not focusing on it and not sitting in silence, if you are concerned you can speak to your GP who will refer you to an ENT if required.

Happenchance · 23/05/2022 21:39

I had this when my iron level was low.

LadyLolaRuben · 23/05/2022 21:42

Yes I've had this and my ears got really sensitive to noise. Even something low level really hurt them

Mimi1980 · 23/05/2022 21:43

Did anyone have tingling in the face with it too ....im really sorry to keep asking questions

Tingling in the face can be a symptom of anxiety.

Penguintears · 23/05/2022 22:32

I have this in one ear. Had cardiology check up (I also have tachycardia) and the consultant wasn't interested or worried about it at all. He said it's just one of those things. I think it is definitely anxiety related. Tingling is also v common with anxiety.

notangelinajolie · 23/05/2022 22:34

I get this when my B12 is low. Sometimes I get vertigo too.

nokitchen · 24/05/2022 22:08

I've got it too. Since about three weeks ago. If I lie on my left side I can feel my heart beat. So annoying. I put white noise on to block it out at night.

gamerchick · 24/05/2022 22:09

Yeah I get it when I dont drink enough.

hippolyta · 25/05/2022 16:35

Yes I get it from time to time. Got it when I had covid and I've had it other times for no obvious reason.
I once went to the GP when I'd had it a couple of months and he basically said tough, one of those things it may or may not go away.
Thankfully it did.

Giveitall · 25/05/2022 16:40

Tinnitus is very common & one of the symptoms can be heartbeat in both ears. Tinnitus can cause all sorts of noises like whooshing, clicking etc.
When my tinnitus got very bad at a time of high stress my GP prescribed a mild beta blocker. Just having the tablets for a week or so was really helpful.
You must see your GP.

jeffersonsam · 25/05/2022 17:55

Ha HA HA, When I hear heart beat sound in my ear, I thought only I hear this sound in my ear, but later see this post, Many of them are hearing sound like me....😛

BingeBitch · 25/05/2022 18:02

I had this due to the increased blood flow during pregnancy. Could hear the pulse in my carotid artery, very unnerving.

Mimi1980 · 26/05/2022 17:29

Posting for others as this may help spent 2 days in hospital I've been diagnosed with Idiopathic intracranial hypertension heartbeat in the ears in due to the increase fluid pressure in the end had other test that ruled out anything more serious also my optic nerves are swollen ... Will be getting treatment
