Mole or melanoma?

I have just noticed this just above my pubic area. The lumpy rash is intertrigo I know that but I am a bit anxious about the darker spot below. I do have several moles on my body but this isn’t an area I look at and I noticed it when I was checking the intertrigo.
Can anyone offer an opinion before I ring GP tomorrow?

@thegreylady , did you manage to get it checked?

thegreylady · 23/05/2022 20:47

I found a website which offered a diagnosis from pictures one close up and one of the whole area. It said ‘naevus’ and explained what that was with other examples. I calmed down and decided to leave it for the moment and see if it changes at all.

Can I make a suggestion. Draw a circle around it with pen and take a photo. that way you can monitor it if it gets bigger. The reason I say this is I know mine has gotten bigger and that’s what the dermatologist has done with my mole and I’ve had photos taken and will have another set of photos done in 8 weeks time to see if there is a noticeable difference.

Moonshine86 what a brilliant idea. I will do that. It is so difficult to get a GP appointment. I had breast cancer in 2006 and although I have been clear ever since there is always a lingering dread.

I did contact the GP surgery today and they asked for a photo. They rang back with a very similar diagnosis to the app (I wonder if they use it)! They suggested I monitor the size for 12 weeks and report back if it grows, itches or bleeds. I guess I am reassured now but will keep an eye on it.
Thanks for your help x

@thegreylady , glad you had it checked.

I can't really see from your photo but it looks like your mole has two shades of colour? I have a similar one and my GP confirmed it's a normal mole.

i have had a mole for a few years now and it’s recently turned into a scab and now this. I have contacted my doctor and they have referred me under the 2 week rule which is worried me! Anyone got any thoughts on this who has been though a melanoma diagnosis before?
TIA

they make take a biopsy, good chance it’s nothing or only on the surface of your skin.
I have had nine melanomas.

The two week rule is what they should do, don't panic. I've just been referred under that rule too and it's to ensure you are seen quickly just in case. The doctor has done the right thing with the referral, most are fine and if not it has only recently changed so you've done the right thing getting it early.
