Is it cancer?

Last two months I'm extremely tired. I could nap all day long. Experiencing some brain fog daily. I called my GP for blood test. They did it and said that I have quite high monocytes and very law folate. I'm referred for another test, I'll believe they will do "wide spectrum" . It's definitely something wrong with me, I'm feeling worse every single day. I need to sit every few minutes if I'm cooking, folding clothes,etc..I was googling and found out that law folate levels and high monocytes are related to blood cancers. I don't want to think about the worse but I would really appreciate if someone could share their experiences...

I also experienced very weird feeling on my fingers and hands - something like needles. Last couple of weeks I waking up during the night and can't feel my fingers. I also sweating quite a lot, especially my chest.

Sorry to hear you're struggling at the moment. I have no advise I'm afraid, just here until someone helpful appears.

Any other issues. Bruising on skin, sorry gums?

Hi @Meklk. Just wondering how old you are - do you think this could be menopause related?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 20/05/2022 21:48

Lack of vitamin D can cause that tingly /finger thing. Could be any number of things tbh, best to wait for the results .

I may be incorrect but I believe folate is your base iron stores. Iron deficiency a anemia starts with the iron in your blood and once your folate is low its because you've been so completely drained of iron. I have severe anemia as a teen and I could not stay awake for longer than an hour or two. Wherever I was I would fall asleep.

It took about a year of iron replacement and it has been a fairly recurrent problem but no where near as severe. I hope it's something that benign for you too

Thank you everyone. I'm 32. I don't think it's pre-menopause (my periods are very regular, have 3 years old son).
I didn't notice any lump, rash or bruising on my body.
All my life my blood was perfect, I never had any problems and never ever experienced that kind of tiredness. I fall asleep two days ago while eating! I was so confused when woke up, I believe my"nap" took~30mins.

That’s ferritin not folate.
