Bowel Polyps

Hi, 2 years ago I had a colonoscopy and 4 polyps were removed. All of them were under 1 cm but one was slightly larger at 8mm. I had it done privately as I was so anxious about the wait. I was told to have another after 3 years. Does this sound right? I’m now getting a bit stressed about them and the possibility of having more or bowel cancer developing. Anyone had this many and not had any more on their next colonoscopy? Any one have more regular colonoscopies if they have that many polyps. I’m 46 years old.

I had polyps removed over 10 years ago and I had a colonoscopy recently and all was good. Obviously everyone is different but just ask your GP to be referred for one. They will ask you if you have any symptoms of course . You will have to wait for a long time on the NHS. If it was private then they will say every 3 years but NHS doesn't do regular checks as routine only faecal tests once over the age of 60. I believe they cost about 2k now.

Thanks @RitaFaircloughsWig . Did you have more than one polyp removed?

4 polyps isn’t many, and they were all small
which is good. And presumably the histology was all good too. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to get another one done sometime in the next 3 years (no big rush),although I think you would have to go private again. You may have no more polyps, but if you do they are better out than in.
But remember the vast majority of polyps are perfectly benign.

I have about 8 large ones removed every year. They leave the small ones, there are just too many. I have a condition which means that I'm at high risk of cancer though.
