Colonoscopy results

Forgive the lack of technical terms, I've received this information from my dad, who's been complaining about stomach pain for many months now.

He's had a colonoscopy and also a camera down his throat (called?).

The bowel shows completely clear, but there are some signs of inflammation just above his stomach, so they've taken samples.

What are they looking for?

Ulcers, incomplete valve closure, all manner of possibilities

Endoscopy when camera goes down that way. They could be looking for anything and everything. They take several biopsies to rule out anything sinister.
