Advice Needed - 7 WO prescribed Nutramigen

Hello everyone,

Wondered if I might get a bit of advice.
We have a 7 WO, she was 5 weeks prem so 2 weeks adjusted age (but is clearly more advanced than a 2 week old baby perhaps more 4 week).
Started off feeding C&G first as Mum was having difficulty with producing and midwives advised us to start her as soon as possible as she had jaundice.
Left hospital after two days and she was fine up until around 2 weeks when we started to see her having difficulty with constipation - tried giving her water etc and didn't help. Moved her to C&G comfort, again helped for a few weeks and then back to square one.

Went to the GP and they were very helpful, provided us with Nutramigen LGG Hypoallergenic. Again this has helped massively for around two weeks and find ourselves at this point now for roughly a week she has been throwing up a lot of her bottle. She's having 4oz and she is definitely throwing up more than a teaspoon, we are changing her sometimes because of it and changing muzzies regularly.

Strangely some feeds she tries to drink the bottle and goes crazy whilst drinking it, kicking and screaming waving her arms around. So I take it off her because she is gulping in mostly air and she hates that because she is really hungry and wants to drink but she can't. She's inconsolable for an hour or so afterwards whilst throwing it back up again.

However some feeds she is absolutely fine! It is the strangest thing.
She's putting on weight absolutely fine (currently around 9lbs) and her bowels and wees are also fine with no issues.
The HV came the other day saw this feed take place and she said she's clearly in discomfort and arching her back whilst screaming. She suggested it might be reflux and to ask the GP to consider Omeprazole.

I'm unsure if it is reflux or a milk issue. I'm not a doctor or a health care professional but I've been with this baby non stop for 7 weeks now and split feeding with my partner so I've got to know her well and the various things she does.

Forgot to mention - she is coughing and congested a lot which makes me think allergies.

My partner has said she's been very unsettled all day which makes me quite sad as usually she is quite a happy baby.

Has anyone had anything similar? I'm allergic to soy and I've heard that Nutramigen has it in the formula so perhaps that might be an issue?

Would really appreciate some feedback! Thank you!!

We had to use a thickener with Nutramigen for our two, it was two thin to keep down. We used Carobel

This sounds exactly like DS. Cows’ milk protein allergy (CMPA) was eventually diagnosed after weeks of trouble feeding caused much distress for all of us. To be honest, it was a nightmarish blur that I can still hardly bear to think about. DS was prescribed omeprazole and neocate, which is a completely artificial food with no cows’ milk in at all.

Thanks, I'll check it out!

Excuse me, I'm new to the abbreviations 😂what's DS? Friend of mine mentioned he had to change to Neocate from Nutramigen, I do wonder if it is the milk causing the issue and switching to Neocate might be better.
