High cholesterol

My dh has persistently high cholesterol as his family have a disposition towards it. He already eats healthily, doesn't drink much alcohol and exercises well and is slightly underweight so doesn't want to restrict his diet much further. Can anyone give any advice about managing it? He does eat meat but is willing to be a bit more radical about his diet and perhaps go mainly vegan if it would help. Any other tips?

If he has a familial predisposition to it then diet won't have much effect.

If his Qrisk is ok, so BP BMI etc he may just need monitoring but if he has other risk factors then he'll need statins unless on them already?

Thank you. I'll get him to check that. He does have a very healthy lifestyle and has a low bmi so I think it's just a familiar disposition. He has made lots of changes like giving up cheese entirely and cutting down to alcohol once a month to his already fairly healthy diet but his cholesterol has remained the same which is frustrating.
