Hello all.
At the end of last year I experienced regurgitation one night. It was yuck. I have not had it like that since but I need help with my symptoms which started at new year .
Brother in law died new year and I have been suffering massive anxiety not helped by what I believe is GERD but it seems mild compared to everything I have read on mumsnet.
in January I felt like I couldn’t burp. This has persisted. In February I felt slight pain and discomfort in my chest (Oesophagus). This has all but gone unless I eat or drink too fast.
I had a bitter taste in my mouth which has also subsided but must confess to a taste always being there.
In April I started experiencing hot air in my throat that never really burns or hurts. That has stopped and comes on now and then but if I eat a mouthful of manuka honey or drink extra water in subsides.
I feel like when I can’t burp that acid is creeping up but it never reaches my throat snd I’m not sure I can feel or taste it.
Now for the things I don’t have. I don’t have tummy pain , I don’t have heartburn . I don’t have itchy ears, I don’t have a sore throat, burning throat, cough, breathlessness. I don’t have to sleep elevated.
I believe I have low stomach acid , I took the bicarbonate test.
I have started drinking Kefir ( have for the last couple of years had bouts of lose stools with undigested food present). Has made a huge difference. Have stopped coffee and cut down chocolate. Nothing else seems to effect me. No matter what I eat my symptoms are the same . Is it possible to have mild GERD because every thread I have read on mumsnet people seem to have it violently and wretchedly. Don’t get me wrong this is miserable but I’m not sure my symptoms are like I’ve read about on here . I have never taken over the counter remedies because they are all about suppressing acid and I think I have low acid . Three weeks ago I had hot burps that were horrid snd I took I little biacarb and it stopped but that’s been about it as far as medicine is concerned . Should I be taking gaviscon ?
