Hygienist help

I have to go to the hygienist tomorrow. I'm terrified!

My teeth are really sensitive to cold and metal. Last time I went to the hygienist I was sick when I got home because the pain was so bad. I've been putting it off but my gums are bad and the dentist says I have to go.

I have the numbing gel stuff but it doesn't work very well. What else can I do to mitigate the pain?

The gel numbs your gums but if it is the actual teeth which are sensitive to cold etc, proper local anaesthetic injections could be done re the very sensitive areas.
Make sure you have a stop signal so that you feel more in control.
