Does anyone understand platelets levels please?

Hello,

If anyone has any experience of this and can advise or make sense I would really appreciate it.

My GP informed me of high platelet count, I had to repeat the blood test 1 month later and still high.

I've been feeling unwell for quite some time.

My current count is 540, but I have no idea what this means or what it could mean except that it is "high"

It doesn't mean very much at all on its own. We'd need the rest of your blood results, along with the findings of the history and examination they took when you saw the doctor in order to comment meaningfully. How long before you see the GP again to go over the results?

That is quite high and I hope you get further investigation. I think it means you are at risk of blood clots so get another opinion.

@DewDropsonKittens does your GP want to see you to discuss? I have high platelets but under 500, I understand over that figure a referral is usually the way forward. It can be nothing but it needs checking.

Hello, so I have had a notification from the GP that my cholesterol is high, my platelets are sitting at 540 and that my markers for inflammation are up.

I have no idea why on the cholesterol.but I have been having leg pain, very cold painful feet and weird heart palpitations at night.

The GP has said that they've asked for advice from haematology, but because of so many conflicting reports on Google I am not sure if I need to insist or just accept whatever is said.

@DewDropsonKittens Yes that’s good that your GP has asked haematology. Just go by what they say, inflammation would explain it, don’t bother with google.

@AndSoFinally

I now have these figures:

cholesterol levels of 7 ,
LDL cholesterol 4.0 and triglyceride 3.6

Platelets count is 540

I have a letter from the Hematology department to say they're sending me an appointment.

Everything on Google is a bit scary. Do these mean anything to you?
