Tennis Elbow anyone?

For several months I have had a very tender outside portion of my left elbow, basically the little pointy part on the outside. It is exacerbated by exercise or things like using a three hole punch send intense pain into the elbow, into the forearm and sometimes wrist. It aches all the time.
The elbow itself has what I thought was a bone spur at the spot because it looked like the little bone is much more prominent on that side than the other and looks like the whole pocket around the bone is puffy. An xray came back normal. Ultrasound is next.
Has anyone who has had tennis elbow actually notice any visible changes to the spot?

I had tennis elbow and it was swollen at the exact point you describe.

After a few years, my GP eventually referred me to a orthopaedic surgeon. I mentioned in passing that my elbow seemed to be worse when my shoulder was bad (also had long-term shoulder pain). The consultant got my shoulder x-rayed there and then, saw signs of arthritis in my shoulder and said he'd like to sort the shoulder first and see if that improved the elbow at all.

Had an arthroscopy on my shoulder, which turned out to be a lot worse than it looked on the x-ray, and not only was my shoulder much improved almost immediately, but over the next few weeks the pain and swelling in my elbow went away completely.

That was over 10 years ago, and both are still pain-free.

Tennis elbow's a sod though, really limits what you can do.

Some swelling around the elbow is a common symptom of tennis elbow. I'm not sure why you're so focussed on this? X-ray will just rule out other things.

I have tennis elbow at present, and have had tennis elbow (and golfers' elbow) previously and just went straight to a physio who diagnosed me within a few minutes. Recovery is slow but you need to focus on that so you can get better rather than fixating on any inflammation.

I’m not fixated on inflammation. I was curious whether a visible bump is a feature of tennis elbow. I thought the bump was certainly a bone spur but an X-ray indicates it is not. Trying to understand what it could be while I await an appt.
