I've recently found out I'm pregnant, and my copper IUD is happily sitting where it always has, in the correct place. This is my second IUD pregnancy, and the last time it was also in the right place. As I understand it, this is exceptionally rare, as most of the doctors I've seen have never even seen an IUD pregnancy before, and the one that had, said that IUD had become dislodged.
I can't use hormonal contraception, so my options are limited, but I'm wondering if there might be a problem with my uterus or some other issue I haven't considered, and that maybe the copper coil doesn't work for me. I don't know how I would find this out, whether I should be asking my doctor to check my anatomy or run some other test.
I've only had this IUD since February, so it's worrying to have it fail so quickly. Any advice or similar experiences are appreciated.
