Hard lump behind ear

So today I noticed a hard unmovable pea sized lump behind my right ear, if I was unwell of bewing a cold I probably wouldn't bat an eye lid but I'm fine in good health

Do I waste a doctors appointment to have it checked out for them to say "you've got a viral infection 😂 "
Or just leave it and see if our happens

Has anyone else had this? What did it turn out to be ?

Like it is literally a pea size not painful, not moving or soft

I duno I guess I'm just after some advice if anyone has time

Thanks in advance x

Its most likely a swollen lymph node. These can swell up during/after illness and can take a while to go down. If it increases in size, becomes red or hot to touch, or hasnt gone in a months time, see your gp.

Is it behind your ear or under it?

I have one behind my ear (had it for about 45 years) and apparently it's just grizzle.

Sometimes I get swollen lymph nodes but that's under my ear lobe in the soft part.

It's behind the lobe but in my neck if that makes sense

X

I'd always get a new lump checked out if it wasn't obviously a boil/spot/blister etc. Don't understand the viewpoint of 'wasting' a GP appointment. That's what they're there for!

I went to doctors this morning as my partner made me an appointment
He is going to do bloods and go from there

I get this if I've put earrings in after not wearing them for a while and the piercing gets a bit infected
I've also got it after picking a spot too much in that area

It's definitely not that kind of lump

Mine was on the neck about an inch from the ear
Solid pea sized lump
Each time it was when I had a slight infection with the piercings or a spot and went away in about a week

It's weird the way the body reacts to things
Best to get it checked though

declutteringmymind · 06/05/2022 20:26

Yep. Get it checked out.

TooManyPJs · 06/05/2022 20:28

I always get cysts behind my lobes. I've worked out that if I put a hot flannel on them a couple of times a day they go down very quickly.

familysecrets · 06/05/2022 22:24

I did go and get it checked out. Having bloods on Tuesday n go from there x
