Anyone had shin splints?

Hi just after a bit of advice. Over the course of the day got a really painful shin on one leg. Hurts even more if I point my toes up. It hurts even when I’m not walking. Does this sound like shin splints? I will go to the GP if it doesn’t go in a couple of days.

I am quite fit and do a lot of hiit but did feel I pushed myself the other day and did squat jumps that’s I usually avoid! Wondering if it’s as a result of this? If so is it just a rest, elevate job?

Certainly could be, especially if it's tender to the touch too. Try ice and - as long as you're able to take it without problems - ibuprofen. Some more info here

Sympathies - I've had it, and it's frigging agony, but it did get better quite quickly.

Thank you! I’ll get some ice on it

Exactly... Ice and raise your shins while icing if that's possible.

The only thing is rest the legs I have found, and maybe stretching the shins out. You have my sympathy OP!

I got them after upping my exercise suddenly . So painful. I think the main thing is to not restart exercise until they've totally settled down. Ice, rest, keeping them elevated if possible and ibuprofen if you can take it

The advice I was given was to pull my toes up towards my knees and hold it for a few seconds and repeat to stretch the shin muscle. Do it gently
it worked for me after a few days

Yes I've had this and it's so painful, hurts with every step! I think it's just doing too much, rest is the other answer

If you have a foam roller use that on your shins. Hurts but it helps.
