Oral thrush in adults

Hi everyone,

Has anybody had oral thrush which have completely wiped them out?! My GP just confirmed I had it, and prescribed me some drops. He said he wasn’t concerned, which I was happy about as google scared me and said it’s rare for a young healthy adult to get it.

It’s made me feel AWFUL! I haven’t been able to eat all weekend, and I feel like I could sleep for days. The tiredness has knocked me for 6. Oh and the burning sensation on my tongue is non stop!

Has anybody else had this? Or does it sound like it’s thrush with another infection/virus?

Thanks xx

My DS had this recently. We think it was due to having to take several courses of antibiotics. He took fluconazole, it says it's for vaginal thrush, but seemed to work for him and he felt better within a couple of days. He had the drops too but they didn't seem to help.

I had it a few years ago - it was horrible. Thought I had something really serious as I had really bad swollen glands, and everything in my mouth was swollen to. I was really surprised by the pain. I did feel pretty ill.
I had some capsules to take as well as the drops and things improved really quickly.
