Itchy scalp treatment recommendations

I teach primary and have now done 2 nit treatments as I had a very itchy scalp and presumed it was headlice. My head has now become even more itchy and it is driving me mad! (Confirmed it is not nits) Its all over, even in my ears.

I think it might be a sebum imbalance / dandruff / fungal infection… really not sure. What over the counter shampoos are good for an itchy scalp?

Body shop ginger shampoo is the best that I’ve found when my scalp started inexplicably itching.

I use the t gel with coal tar extract. I don't need to use it every day, just once or twice a week

If it's in your ears too it could be a reaction to the nit treatment or fungal. I would pop to the pharmacy and ask them to take a quick look, they may recommend something for you to try. I hope you feel better ASAP!

This sounds like seborrheic dermatitis. I suggest with this, dry itchy scalp, fry skin in my ears, nasal folds and eyebrows. I recommend Nizarol shampoo, you can buy it from Boots, Superdrug and Amazon.

Try the coal tar shampoos from the chemist. I used this when I had very flaky itchy scalp and it was brilliant.

Sometimes my scalp still gets a little sensitive and itchy but not flaky, so I get a very creamy, thick conditioner and massage it into my scalp for a few minutes after a gentle wash. That seems to calm it down. I think my latest one is the cheap asda jojoba conditioner.

Nizerol is the best

Oilatum scalp shampoo. Works better for me than nizoral and t-gel, though those are good as well.
