Cling film

I worry about these things probably more than I should but I've realised that when DH heats up pre cooked meat in the microwave with clingfilm it will sometimes touch some of the meat. Everything I've read states not to let clingfilm come into contact with food so now my anxiety is through the roof over this. I've tried to reassure myself that this isn't something we do everyday and maybe twice a month and health risks are likely minimal anyway. Can anyone offer any further reassurance on this (and not anything that will make me feel worse please). Would really help me right now.

Do you know if anyone who has died because cling film touched their meat in the microwave? Are you both still alive? If you answered no to question one and yes to question two, I would focus on getting help for anxiety rather than help for cling film.

Good lord, twice a month and probably not even all the food at that - you will be totally fine!

I did this for years before realising and more often than that and have lived healthily to tell the tale thus far.

To be honest you could probably wolf down clingfilm regularly and still be fine (though, urgh, I wouldn't!)

I really second the pp's suggestion to get help. Medication, good diet without sugar, regular exercise, and meditation have worked absolute wonders on my health anxiety. There is light at the end of the tunnel OP Smile

I tend to use parchment paper for this job rather than clingfilm.

So, if you wrap up chicken filets in cling film in the freezer how would you defrost them in the microwave?

Thank you for the comments. I realise I have health anxiety and anxiety in general. I am reluctant to take medication but will try the other options. Thank you for the reassurance.

Isn’t cling film meant to come into contact with food? I mean that’s it’s only job.
