I've been trying to get on top of my health this past year and I had a blood test in December that was overall pretty good, except B12 was on the low side at ~350.
I re-tested in January and got a similar number, so I've been eating a lot of liver and taking a sub lingual supplement for a few months. I tested again last week and got my results today. B12 is at 1639! Yikes. I suppose that means I should ease off the pedal on the supplements? How do I proceed from here? Just test every so often and see what's happening?
I don't know how it got low in the first place as I eat meat, eggs, fish etc.
Anyway, on to the others. I got folic acid, iron and ferritin checked last week too, and these are the results:
Folic acid 13.4 ng/mL
Iron 99
Ferritin 49.5
Folic acid and iron are in the middle of the reference ranges from the lab, but I know these are often not actually optimal. Anyone here know if these are okay?
My understanding is that ferritin should be closer to 100 to be ideal, so should I be supplementing iron or ferritin for that?
Any advice gratefully received!
