i have an awful toothache, molar right at the back it's broken a bit and has a large filling already. it started a couple of days ago then went off, today it's come back and it's awful, if I wiggle my tooth it really hurts.

I am wondering if anyone has any advice on what I can use, I have taken ibuprofen with codeine and clove oil but nothing is working. I have called 111 to see if I can at least get an appointment somewhere tomorrow.

Have you tried soluble cocodamol? I gargled that around the area of sore tooth (and infection in my case) before swallowing. I found it helped a bit. Also difflam mouthwash might help you (I use this for easing pain of mouth ulcers). Warm hot water bottle on the side is the is sore.. Hope you get seen tomorrow. Tooth pain is awful.

Dissolve a good teaspoon of table salt in a cup of boiling water, let it cool to a temperature you can tolerate and swill it around the tooth. Spit, don’t swallow! Do it a few times. Throbbing sounds like infection (well, it is for me anyway!). Dentist asap. Good luck.

Thanks can buy some soluble cocodomol today now chemists are open. It's subsided a but but I know the pain will be back at any time. Waiting for a call from emergency dentist. 111 said they referred me.

Oh you have my sympathy - I was in the exact same yesterday! I think managed to get a prescription for an antibiotic yesterday from nhs24 even tho it was the bank hol and it’s feeling a good bit better already after only one day, so hopefully you’re not in pain for too long!
I’m breastfeeding so can only take paracetamol, but think ibuprofen is better for tooth pain and also warm salt rinses and a hot water bottle on the sore side also helped inbetween. Good luck… hope you get it sorted soon. Toothache is absolute grim!

no appointments but 111 did say to try a temp filling, which I bought from Boots but it doesn't seem to want to stay on.

Oh god I am with you!

I'm currently half way through root canal treatment and my god it's been painful this weekend. Luckily I found some old antibiotics so have taken those along with painkillers but every time I bite down it throbs!

Bloody teeth!!

Urgh expensive root canal and crown needed. I swear nearly all my teeth are crowns now 😫
