Black line on my nail!

I just spotted black line on thumb nail 3 weeks ago I think it’s due to moving the bed mattress/boxes and the black line is growing out of it. But I have spotted another black line next to it today, I did mowed my gardens yesterday. I know I shouldn’t look on google but have heard this could be a melanoma but surely this would be very rare?

I booked appointment with my GP but I'll be in 2 weeks.

Those are 99.9999% sure to be tiny bleeds, usuall due to the nails getting lifted up a little or knocked. They are right by the free nail edge, and the older one is growing out with the nail.

I think you're thinking of nail bed melanoma? The line normally extends the whole length of the nail according to various medical sites. It's really common to get small marks like this from trauma.

It's close to the edge of the nail so if it were me I'd wait a few weeks to see if it naturally grows out before I rang the GP. I had something similar,at on my big toe a few years ago and I thought the worst but it did grow out and when I look back I actually think mine was caused by ill fitting shoes 🙈

Melanoma would be a black line from your nail bed to free edge, tapering near the free edge. You wouldn't get two little marks next to each other like that. I'd not see a GP for that especially as they're growing out
