Hi

Does anyone have any experience of the Albyn Hospital in Aberdeen. I don't know anyone who's used them and am struggling to find any reviews.

Thanks

Several friends and relatives have had surgery (mainly minor stuff. eg cataracts, nose surgery) ... and I've cared for a handful of patients who's ops got complex and needed moved over to ARI .

If it's a relatively minor or simple thing I think they're brilliant, friend said they couldn't have been better with her .

Exactly the same consultants that work in ARI etc, only difference is they cant do big/complex stuff that would need HDU/ITU etc but if God forbid that ended being needed you're only minutes away anyway ...

Think the biggest difference is facilities, waiting time and not necessarily having to share a ward with lots of others - think its mainly ensuite singles (I think) - don't know what its like with covid but they used to be v relaxed about visiting too .

I had surgery there back in January. Single ensuite room, felt very safe, lots of nurses on duty who kept checking up on me post-surgery. The surgeon I saw also works at ARI. Saw the consultant in December, had the op in January. NHS waiting list 2 years.
My DH has also had procedures there and I did physio there for frozen shoulder a few years ago.
Sometimes you might see a consultant there but the procedure will be at Spire Edinburgh.
Best wishes.

Thank you. usedtohavebupa does this mean Spire is more well equipped for bigger operations? It is just a consultation I'm going for initially but potentially a hysterectomy.

My mum had day surgery at the Albyn on Sunday. She was really impressed. The sourdough toast was especially good apparently!

I think it was just the particular Consultant's preference and that particular cardio lab facility wasn't available at the Albyn. I think hysterectomy will be available there though.
