Sore bum cleft

I have name changed for this.

I have a very sore patch at the top of my bum cleft. It's been sore for ages so I've kept it clean and dry. However, the skin has now broken and it's very sore and bleeding.
I've looked online but most info is about pilonidol cysts. I don't think that applies. Yet.
Any experience or ideas as to how to get it to heal?
I really don't want to have to go to my GP. Don't want to have to explain the problem to the horrible, nosy receptionist.
All ideas gratefully received.

Hi, It sounds exactly like a pilonidal sinus cyst from your description, and my DP had to have 2 operations to cure his. I think you really will have to see a doctor about it

Go to the GP OP. You're in good company with bum issues and they won't bat an eyelid. Do an econsult if you can.

I had this and it was fungal. Timodene cleared it up but she said you can buy similar over the counter. I think maybe try some canastan ? Timodene is prescription only.

Really? I was trying to avoid that.

Yes you can buy Canesten or Canesten Hydrocortisone over the counter for fungal skin infections.

Yep, DH has this and it's fungal. Does it look like a patch of eczema?

Genital psoriasis

Haven't worked out how to examine it in great detail yet. I will report back

Also meant to say I've had a pilonidal sinus and it was more painful than childbirth so I doubt it's that - not that I'm a GP before I get flamed Smile

A pharmacist should be able to diagnose if you can't get a GP appointment - they will probably recommend an anti-fungal. DH has Timodene but not sure if this is available over the counter.

Hope you get some relief soon, DH says it's really itchy x

My DH had a pilonidal sinus, it started as a deep spot - like a boil - rather than a bigger sore patch. It sounds more like fungal infection or intertrigo to me.

It's not very painful just sore. I'll go to the chemist in the morning and get some cream. Let's hope it works.

Name change fail?

I had this for years. The skin would split and bleed. Horrendous. Dermol 500 fixed it in the NHS, to my great relief.
