Polyp removal

I need to have a cervical polyp removed. Can anyone tell me whether this is likely to be painful? For some reason I find a lot of gynae things extremely painful (passed out from pain during an attempted coil fitting, for example) despite having a high pain threshold generally, so I'm a a bit nervous. Does it involve opening the cervix?

Thanks

I had this done around 10 years ago, my polyps were quite big and on the opening to my womb.

I had a general anaesthetic which I must admit was quite lovely and I suffered no pain whatsoever. Much easier than I expected. Good luck

I have one too OP. I have a colposcopy tomorrow but am 7 weeks pregnant so not sure if they will remove it or not.

Thanks all (and to @MeMe3Spoons - I saw your message and found it helpful).

I do feel a bit nervous about it but forewarned is forearmed. I will have a chat with the gynaecologist re what to expect- she's the same doctor who had me faint mid-coil so she knows I'm not great with this stuff.

My Cervical polyps were removed using a speculum. I have had 2 taken off and it didn't hurt at all.

I had one removed today. Consultant was doing an examination re heavy bleeding etc and saw it and just removed it there and then. A bit of cramping but nothing bad. He said it was ‘large’. I had a look at it and it was about the size of a baked bean.

I had the polyps removed couple of years ago. It was done in general anesthesia and no worry, it is not painful.
