Sickness bug

Hi
On Thursday morning around 5.30 I woke up with really bad nausea, i then started being sick at around 6.00am, this continued throughout Thursday day and I had diarrhoea once. Didn't eat any food and on Friday evening and Saturday I started to feel better.
Then Sunday morning I woke up with the same nausea feeling and had diarrhoea really bad yesterday but no sickness so again starved myself. It's like it stopped then started again. Has anyone ever heard of this?
I have rang the docs and they said it sounds like a stomach bug like Gastroenteritis.
Today I havnt had any sickness or diarrhoea but my stomach feels so delicate :(

My daughter had this last week. Sick all day Sunday and in to Monday. Then she hardly ate for a few days and the sickness came back Thursday morning and them nothing since and she is back to eating well and normally now. We saw the GP and he said a gastro bug.

Hope you feel better soon.

gamerchick · 11/04/2022 21:16

It's just a bug. No need to ring the gp. Keep your fluids up, eat plain food if you feel up to it and ride it out. It'll pass.

This is interesting. My DS who’s 3 was sick all day on Saturday with a high temp- and diarrhoea too, no D&V on Sunday- but he didn’t want to eat much, then vomited several times again today.

I’ve been Googling biphasic gastroenteritis as it seemed odd but I’m relieved to see this thread.

My daughter has the same, sickness and diarrhoea but in bouts with periods of being ok in between. It's shit and I hope it passes soon!!!

Me! 24 hour absolute write off when I couldn't keep water down and slept all day, then I felt fine the next day eating small meals. Next day woke up feeling nauseous and the thought of food turned by stomach and it's taken 3-4 days of that before finally feeling better. Can't remember ever having a sickness bug this bad and prolonged. Hope you feel better soon!

Dd started with this last Friday and since then we’ve all had it. I got it early hours of Thursday morning and still not 100% yet. It’s a horrible bug.

CorsicaDreaming · 11/04/2022 21:41

It could be Covid

CorsicaDreaming · 11/04/2022 21:42

Unfortunately, sometimes bugs can last a few days. The kids and I once had a tummy bug last 7-10 days. But it was just diarohea. Although, one child vomitted once during those days. We had to eat a BRAT diet, but still had diarorhea for days. My son had first, then my dd and then me....it was so annoying because it was like a month dealing with this damn bug, as it happend one after the other. Tummy bugs are the worst. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for all you're replies. It makes me feel so much better knowing I'm not alone. Lol
I 100% think there is a nasty bug going round.
I work in a nursery too so Iv probably caught it from there.
Still no sickness or diarrhoea from me but my stomach feels so wishy washy and I have alot of wind! Sorry TMI Smile

Obviously not glad your family are struggling with it but it is nice to see I'm not the only one struggling. My husband and I both got sick last Monday, had 2 days of feeling horrific, up all night in the bathroom, diarrhea, stomach cramps and just generally very unwell. Started feeling better Thursday and Friday, then Saturday woke up and was violently ill again. Haven't had the cramps, it is literally just diarrhea (sorry, TMI! 🙈) but it's been 8 days now of it being on and off and I'm so fed up. Drinking lots of electrolyte drinks and my doctor has recommended pepto bismol and probiotic yoghurts but she said it's most likely bacterial and should eventually pass. Finding it so frustrating - we go on holiday tomorrow and I'm worried this is going to completely ruin it! No point in going to an all inclusive hotel if you can't drink alcohol, eat much or swim in the pool! The only blessing is that it seems to have gone through my son pretty quickly, he's been alright for the majority of the week, fingers crossed. I've never had a stomach bug like it, normally within 2-3 days I'm back to normal but this is persistent and driving me mad. Hope you and your family all feel better soon OP, it sucks.

Oh my goodness @howoriginal it sounds awful in your household! Likewise sorry you are struggling but also glad it's not just me 😂
It must be a bad one, iv been ok touch wood today no more sickness or diarrhoea but my stomach is still very 'off' and I have zero appetite still.
Hope you manage to enjoy your holiday! x
