Advice for managing kidney infection

I have health anxiety and would just like someone to talk me through what to expect and at what point you need to seek more help. Knowledge helps me to stay calm.

I started with UTI symptoms yesterday, an irritated feeling and an ache on my lower stomach. I did a urine dipstick and leukocytes were very high. No blood or any other abnormalities. With it being a Sunday evening, I waiting till this morning to ring the Dr.

This morning I'd started with pain in my back and was a bit shivery so it sounds like it's progressed to a kidney infection. I don't have a temperature and my urine is still just showing high for leukocytes.

I've been given a week of co amoxiclav by the doctor and have started them straight away. I'm in quite a bit of back pain and just feel a bit grotty.

Is there anything else I can do to try and feel better and at what point do I need to get more help? Things like sepsis terrify me so I would like to know what I need to look out for.

If your symtoms haven't improved in a couple of days or you have a high tempreture hen I'd phone 111. You may need to go into hospital and get intravenous antibiotics. Did you have a urine test sent off? Sometimes they need specific antibiotics. But things should hopefully improve soon. Plenty of rest, water to flush those kidneys and paracetamol for the pain.

I've had over 15 UTI,s and currently have one. So I know how painful they are!

@Ejk1990 Yes, they sent off a urine sample today.
I'm shocked at how quick it went to my kidneys. UTI symptoms started yesterday and by last night by back had started hurting.

For me, antibiotics usually take three or four days before they start having a noticeable effect.
Lots of fluids, usual OTC painkillers, remember paracetamol will bring down a fever by a degree or two. Good luck, it's no fun.
If you find yourself feverish or at all incoherent and paracetamol doesn't help, call 111.

I'm on day 3 of antibiotics now. My urine still has lots of leukocytes but it has come down one square on the dipstick. It's still cloudy and full of white floating bits.
My kidneys still hurt a lot. Sharp jabbing pains on both sides.

I've not had any temperature yet.

Does it sound like it's getting better?
How long till this kidney pain improves?
