Painful achy legs

I'm just 40 and I'm continually having such achy legs just in the last 6 months or so it's not agonising but does frustrate me trying to get to sleep and I wake up and they are still there. I am on medication for high blood pressure so not sure it's related but it's driving me mad. Is it age? Anyone similar?

When are they achey? Is it when you walk and does it ease off when you stop?

hoppingjumpingskipping · 05/04/2022 20:45

No unfortunately just all the time even lying in bed and even now when I wake up in the mornings or if I wake in the night x

I have exactly this.
I think it is circulation problem as bottom of my legs are red in the morning.

DrBrennerFan · 05/04/2022 20:47

I pity you mine are dreadful just lately I found hot water bottle on lower back helped not only with that pain but seemed to relax my whole body.

Try high strength vitamin D

Hercules12 · 05/04/2022 20:53

Could you be anaemic?

OutingHobby · 05/04/2022 20:55

Have you had covid about 6 months ago?

Might be worth speaking to your GP in case there's a deficiency somewhere.

GeneLovesJezebel · 05/04/2022 20:55

Try light support tights and flattish shoes. Not very flat, but low heeled and supportive.

hoppingjumpingskipping · 05/04/2022 20:59

Really interesting answers so I am anaemic that got diagnosed about 2 months ago and I'm on a really high dose of iron, I am already taking high strength Vit D and have been taking that for a few years. I'm also on thyroid medicine. My high blood pressure was caused by pregnancy and I'm trying to shift weight to deal with it. I'm not working so always in comfortable shoes such as trainers.

Are you a similar age? I did wonder if it was age related?

Magnesium might help?

I did have covid in November but this started before then

I'll add that in, anything that helps would be good

My nan used to swearing by a banana a day for the potassium when her legs ached. But I don't know if there's anything to that.

Hercules12 · 05/04/2022 21:03

Reason I suggested anaemia was I had awful restless legs every night - had 2 emergency blood transfusions

Gingernaut · 05/04/2022 21:04

You need to get this checked out as it could be serious - PAD could cause all sorts of problems if not treated.

hoppingjumpingskipping · 05/04/2022 21:13

I've had restless legs all my pregnancies and wanted to saw them off it's awful, sympathies!

This pain isn't like that at all.

Thank you I'll look into that disorder never heard of it before.

Sitting with a hot water bottle now on lower back I’ve treated myself to a microwave one it will come on Friday.

Moonchild18 · 06/04/2022 23:25

I have this, it's a symptom of my chronic fatigue syndrome, unfortunately I've not found anything that helps I just try to stick to loose or soft clothing, I can't wear jeans or anything really tight as it aggravates it, I stick to cotton leggings now. Sometimes my whole body aches even my toes and my fingers.
