In a dentist and I'm terrified!

I'm shaking writting this! I finally have an appointment with a dentist after losing my place with my last one due to covid and me nor booking an appointment in time. I absolutly hate dentists and I'm kind of relieved I didn't have to go to be honest but I've been trying to get in one due to soreness around one side of my mouth around the gum and I got in one and I'm terrified! I'm scared ill have to have one removed. I know I have a slight crack in my back tooth but doesn't cause me any issues. I have 1 receeding gum on my fang tooth and I'm overall scared he'll just give an extraction. I have no toothache or anything like that just soreness on one side. Oh my life I'm so nervous. Help me please! Words of wisdom.

Tell them you're nervous, they can take their time.

I intend on explaining when I go in there. My worry is I'll babble on being so nervous. I just have a very big feeling ill need something done. I had a couple of bad experiences when I was younger and the more check ups I had the better I felt then the dentist I had left and the next one was so rough and tutted at me for the slightest movement never made me feel at ease so I left to go to another who seemed OK amd was good with me and unfortunately lost my place so going into a new place scares me. I haven't had any work done in years but this soreness I'm having makes me feel like something is going to be done. I feel like such a baby and embarrassed considering my ds had teeth out for braces a while ago and though he said it hurt he was a champ and here's me whinning about it

Hope it goes well.
I was the same last week. I had horrific dental experiences in my teens and 20s and have been terrified ever since of having a tooth out.
A huge bit broke off a tooth last week and I was convinced they would take it out but they repaired it and will crown it later.
I think once you've got there you just want them to do it all rather than have to go back again.

Hopefully they will be really kind to you, in my experience most are. Try to explain how nervous you feel. Good luck to you. I have a real fear of the dentist so I know how difficult this is

Thankyou. The receptionist did say it was just a check up so I know nothing will be done on the day so I might feel slightly easier but if they say I need go back for anything that's when the panic will set in. I'm hoping they are understanding. My old one definitely wasn't I felt abit like he really wanted to tell me to shut up and put up he was extremely rough.
