Amlodipine side effects

I have only taken this for two days but have had a almost constant pounding headache and awful palpitations which have lasted all day today.
I am on Atenolol 50 mg for BP and 25 mg at night to help with palpitations that i have had for many years.
I was prescribed the Amlodipine as my recent set of BP readings have been slightly elevated.

When GP prescribed it, phone appointment, i did mention that i got palpitations but he was in a rush and there was screaming child in background.
I don't think i can face another day of it but suspect i will be asked to try it for longer. Do symtoms settle or should i insist on another BP tablet?

I didn’t get on well with it, my feet ballooned up so much. I would ring gp, no harm in checking with them.

Thank you, after a really bad night i phoned GP who has said i needed to change to another BP medication. I have now been prescribed Candesartan, so will see how that goes.
