Hi everyone,

Tomorrow is four weeks since the dreaded shingles rash first appeared on my eye, forehead and scalp and I’m still miserable with itching / burning / dry eyes, and my nerves are giving me grief.

I started antivirals within a few hours of the rash appearing and had eye drops as it ended up in my eye.

I’m just wondering for anyone else who has had it how long it took for all symptoms disappear. Thanks!

Not the answer you want to hear but I've still got symptoms 11 years later. I was diagnosed with post herpatic neuralgia (it effects half of my face, neck, arm and hand). I now take analgesia specifically for neurological pain twice a day. I'd encourage you to visit your gp I ended up seeing a neurologist and then a pain clinic. I also tried acupuncture, injections and numbing cream that gave short term relief but the NHS won't support long term if the results don't last long enough.
The rash took about 5/6 weeks to disappear.
However on the positive side nerves repair slowly (1mm per day) so it could be your body is repairing but it will be a slow process.

My friend got it from having the shingles vaccine! Apparently it can be a side effect His lasted about 4-5 weeks. But still has the scars from it.
