High CRP (C Reactive protein) blood test?

LifesTooShortYOLO · 03/04/2022 16:40

I've just had routine bloods done and my CRP has come back high at 7mg/L and it says normal is 0-5.
Anyone else had this?
I did a quick Google and it says it is a sign of inflammation so a cold or virus may elevate it but I feel perfectly fine so I doubt it's that.
What causes it to be high?
Is it even that high at 7? I'm so worried 😦

7 would not worry me in the slightest tiniest bit.

Absolutely not a problem. It's a range and I've had 15 X that level so Dr's chose to prescribe ABs and a repeat 3 days later it was back to normal levels.

That's not high high (after my DC was born mine was 120) but can indicate inflammation in the body. Mine was slightly outside the range but the Dr considered it not needing treatment. However later tests showed I had h pylori infection in my stomach lining. If you're otherwise feeling well it's nothing to worry about.

Highest one I’ve ever seen is 500mg/L, wouldn’t be concerned about 7

Mine was 32 and I was told it was nothing to worry about and not a cause for concern! 😱 I had mine tested because of swollen knuckles and hand pain. Xrays were clear and was negative for rheumatoid arthritis. Told to take naproxen for a month and keep my hands warm. This was 2 years ago, still get the same whenever it's really cold!

Mine is late 300s when I have an autoimmune flare, 7 is absolutely fine.

FawnFrenchieMum · 03/04/2022 17:24

Absolutely nothing to worry about, people in a Crohn’s flare have it in 100’s.

Flyingbymypants · 03/04/2022 17:26

7 is not high.

Mine was 124 when I had a pneumonia before Xmas. Came down to 26 the following week when I felt tons better so 7 really isn't a concern. It just means your body is doing its job which is to fight infection before you feel unwell.

I'm another one who has their CRP regularly in the 100s. My last result was 32 which my consultant described as 'slightly elevated but nothing to worry about'.
