This one has probably been done many times, but for some reason my forum search is not working properly, so i'll just try this way.
Am still breastfeeding my ds2, who's now almost 25months. And until 8 weeks ago used condoms as contraceptive method. Both dh and I got a bit fed up with them though, so I went to familyplannign clinic to try and get an alternative. First tried cerazette: big mistake. Tried for 8 weeks now, and have more or less been bleeding continuously, am dead-tired, and snap over the littlest things with ds1 and ds2 (and dh). This afternoon went back to the clinic and now am put on micronor, which basically is another progestron only (mini)pill. Nurse told me to take 2 tablets daily, as i am over 70kgs. This seemed a bit odd to me... Why would i need to take 2, I am only sligthly overweight (BMI 25.9)? She also told me that hte reliability of this pill is quite low, and that I'd be better of using additional protection around my ovulation. I didn't think much of this until in the car on the way back to work: doesn't that sort of beat the purpose of the pill then?
Initially according to her I would be protected during this period, as still breastfeeding ds2, but this i have my doubts about as well: ds2 was conceived whilst breastfeeding ds1, although then we admidtedly were trying for a baby, so i wasn't on the pill.
Anyways, sorry for the long story. I am now just a bit in doubt, if really i want to start on this other pill.... Has anyone on here had the same dilemma (or similar?)? And what did you decide in the end. Have been thinking of coil, but am not sure which of those would be suitable for me...
Ds2 does not seem to show any signs of wanting to wean and i do not want to cut him off before he stops by himself. Going back onto a combination pill for me is not ideal anyway (which would be possible if i stopped breastfeeding theoretically) as I have migranes.
Any advice?
