Clarythrimicin Causing Eczema/Psoriasis???

Urgh😣

I've been laid up too ill to do much for months. Finally pinpointed it was an infection & was given Clarythrimicin antibiotics, which I've had before & whilst harsh, I have tolerated them okay.

Now I'm finally headaches, nausea & dizzy free, TF I feel able to go out again on my own. Whoop!! ... only now I have red sore & scaly lizard face Confused it started of red & stinging, felt like bad sunburn & then felt like I had a clay face mask on & then peeling, flaking & splitting. Worst around my eyes which feels awful & my whole forehead is bad too🥴 everything stings like crazy to put on it, even coconut oil. Vitamin E oil capsules are all I can tolerate & though helping a lot, it isn't going

I've never had eczema or psoriasis etc, but I'd guess this is something like that, especially from pictures of eczema. Can antibiotics do this & will it go? What do I need, how best to tackle this ? I'm feeling thoroughly bloody miserable with it right now🥴

I would find out which is the local pharmacy is open today and ring to speak to the pharmacist to see if you should stop them and speak to the GP tomorrow.

A quick Google of side effects suggests that skin issues are serious and you need to seek medical advice.

Have you read the patient leaflet?

I had an extremely bad central nervous system reaction to clarithromycin, had to stop it immediately. I think its dangerous, much more so than doctors realise.

Thanks for the replies & I'm sorry some of you have had such bad experiences with this antibiotic. Sorry I couldn't reply yesterday as my internet connection was dire, but managed to read.

Weirdly I'd was on my second to last day of a 10 day course of this antibiotics when I fist came up with a sore red face. So initially looked to blame something I had put on my face, but nothing newConfused

I've had the skin reaction to other antibiotics in the past & that was much more of an actual rash than this was. This time is has felt very very dry, raised & very wrinkled & stings like sunburn, slightly red & then flakes & peels like sunburn. So I have read about skin reactions with antibiotics & thought I knew how that worked, but this is different, much more like eczema to look at & it all started much further into the course of antibiotics than previous reactions. Plus I took my last antibiotic on Friday morning & still suffering today, though thankfully less so now than I was. So all a bit Confused

I couldn't get through to any pharmacist yesterday & couldn't face ringing 111 as I find they can be a bit trigger happy with sending an ambulance & I really don't feel I need that. I'm now waiting on a GP call back though

Thank you @Ohsugarhoneyicetea, I hadn't thought of that & so took the antihistamines & it definitely helped, it also reminded me that I had some herbal cream in the freezer that I'd made a while back for DDs urticaria flare ups & that has helped a lot & isn't constantly smearing my specs like the vitamin E oil was doing, so thank you!
