Please help - No D&V

Since last night I have been feeling slightly off, kind of like you'd feel the day after a 24h sickness bug. No D&V, but stomach/bowels feel delicate and occasionally sore/crampy. Mild nausea but not bad enough to feel like I'm going to vomit. And feel slightly tired/ache like body is trying to fight something off but no actual fever. I was able to go out for a big meal at lunchtime and felt fine so really not that bad but not good either.

What could this be? Initially I thought a bit of indigestion but usually gets better in a day. I'm up now feeding baby and still feel the same.

I have anxiety and emetophobia so I am freaking out. We are hosting a big party for DDs birthday tomorrow which we've been planning for months and are travelling abroad next week. Now I feel like I need to cancel everything and everything is ruined.

I either have some sort of food poisoning that will get worse or whatever I have is contagious and my children will get sick before/on holiday.

I just wanted my DD to have a nice birthday after 2 years in lockdown, I'm so upset:(

Has anyone had similar? Might be worth mentioning we had covid two weeks ago but I was mainly symptom free and have been testing negative for over a week.

I did eat some houmous just before this started which had been left out during a picnic and not quite kept to the right temperature. Could it be that? Will I get worse and worse if so?

Hello! I also have emetophobia - I know when you feel like this, it’s awful.

What I would say is that if you have had no D&V by now, you should be ok.

It could be that you have some sun colony anxiety about the upcoming party/going away? Or maybe hormones?

I’m sure you’re going to be totally fine - I hope you feel better by now Smile

Subconscious* not sun colony!!

TabbyMcTatBuskersCat · 04/04/2022 22:03

Anxiety.

JungleJimbo · 04/04/2022 22:11

Emetophobia is crap!

If you haven't been sick or anything so far, you won't be now. You're probably feeling a little under the weather but your anxiety is making you feel worse.

Get some good sleep and you'll feel much better tomorrow

Pregnant?

Tiredoftiers · 05/04/2022 12:12

I'm the same just now, feel slightly nauseous. Stomach cramps, and lightheaded off feeling. Exactly like a d+v bug, but without the actual "action". It's very strange.

Thanks all for the replies and reassurance.

I definitely realised I was a lot more anxious about everything than I thought (the thought of being out of routine with 2 small DC seems to really throw me off at the moment) but I don't feel like the anxiety alone was causing my symptoms. I'm even more anxious now we're away but feel physically fine now.

@tiredoftiers if it can reassure you, no D&V happened in the end, but I felt like this for 2/3 days, cramps and wanting to lay down a few hours after every meal, no matter how small and plain. And my bowels made really horrible gurgling noises constantly. Everyone else in the household is fine, so really don't know what it was. Hope you feel better soon.

I do wonder if it was a covid aftereffect really as I know omicron causes GI symptoms. Nephew has it this week and had mainly sickness bug symptoms. Who knows!

Thank you @Anon7654321, hope you manage to relax and enjoy your holiday.
Fingers crossed it passes quickly, I want to take the kids out for a few days out but nervous that I suddenly start vomiting. Not had covid recently and all my lateral flows are negative so don't think its that.

chocopuffs · 05/04/2022 12:50

I've had this too! I had it a couple of months ago and then again yesterday. The first time was quite severe cramps that came in waves, but no real d&v. This time it felt a bit like food poisoning but only mild 'd'. I also wondered if it could be covid related? I've tested negative but have had symptoms.

Anon7654321 · 05/04/2022 13:13

So annoying isn't it not knowing if you'll suddenly feel worse !

@Tiredoftiers @chocopuffs I've only ever had negative LFTs too. Only the PCR was positive, I took a PCR as DH had tested positive and both DCs had symptoms.
