As title says, I have a pile. It's a pretty big external one - feels like a hard grape just outside the back of the anus. It's uncomfortable when getting up from sitting but not affecting toileting too much, just an annoying feel of fullness and discomfort.

Tbh I'm surprised I've not had one before - I have IBS and spend an awful lot of time straining on the toilet. I was itchy around the area for a week or so and then it suddenly popped out. It's been 2 days and I've been using anusol cream and it doesn't seem to have improved. I'm going to get some witch hazel and start sitz baths, is there anything else that will help? And if I do everything 'right' with toileting, fibre, hydration etc when might I expect it to settle down? I guess I was hoping it might have shrunk a bit by now?

Anyone? I've just been for a walk and it's gotten really sore, it's making me so miserable!

I have just come out the other side. My thoughts are with you.
Why does standing up hurt so much? I was kind of rolling. So very attractive.
Mine cleared up in about 10 days but it was a monster.
I found whinging about it helped.
Good luck.

@Idratherhaveacuppa I'm lying on the sofa feeling very sorry for myself and 'I found whinging about it helped' really cracked me up, thank you Smile

Ask your gp for proctosedyl ointment and suppositories.
Otc medicine isn't that good.

Glad I could help!
Try not to cough. Or sneeze. Little buggers they are.

GP will give you stronger cream or suppositories, but Boots do Witch Hazel wipes that help.

I’ve had an external one for about five years… doesn’t really cause me any problems (only did for the first few weeks) and GP checked it and said it was fine. So I’m stuck with the fucker. Hopefully your scenario won’t be the same, but I just wanted to warn you in case yours doesn’t disappear. Once I’ve done having babies I hope to visit Bupa or the like and get it removed.
