What on earth is a crick in the neck?

My neck seems to be constantly cricking at the moment. I turned over in bed this morning and now the pain behind my right shoulder blade is so bad I wince when I move.

I have tried a hot water bottle and ibuprofen, but neither have done much. I had a brief moment of relief when DP prodded/massaged it for me, but that has now worn off :-(. He said he couldn't feel anything there, so it's not like knotted muscle.

What can I do to cure it? It's driving me mad!

It's a knotted muscle/ spasm. Look up neck exercises on you tube and do them religiously. So painful, I feel for you. If it doesn't shift then a physio would help.

Torticollis, excruciatingly painful if your neck actually locks in one position. Thankfully I haven’t had it for years (touch wood!).
Try alternating heat and ice packs.
