Just that really. Can anyone recommend sleeping tablets that work and don't leave you feeling drowsy the next morning?

None of the "herbal" ones work for me. The best one for me OTC is Nytol One a Night - but it does leave me a bit drowsy - unless I don't have to get up and can sleep in late! I have used Zopiclone 3.75mg from the Dr occasionally - they work really well and don't give me the drowsy feeling - but I only take them if I have the opportunity for a lie in!

Try an antihistamine- phenergan.

Phenergen (or sominex but just a brand name and more expensive -same stuff) works best for me too but you need to take it early or you will be drowsy when you have to get up. An hour at least - or more - before you want to sleep and maybe even more! but start off on lower dose and see how you get on?

Honestly the only ones that don’t leave you drowsy in my experience - and I have had far too much experience of insomnia - are prescription ones. Zopiclone helps you stay asleep longer & Zolpidem puts you out quicker, bliss, like a hammer to the head but it has shorter half life in your body i.e. wears off quicker and I prefer that. It’s more unusual in the UK but the GP will prescribe if you ask for it specifically.

Zopiclone only gets me to sleep for 6 hours max and I often still wake a few times on it but only briefly. It's very addictive and isn't true "sleep" - these are the reasons the GP don't like to prescribe it.

I use Dormeasan Valerian drops, which work well. They say 30 drops but 15 is more than enough for me. They taste horrible so I put them in a little bit of ginger ale. I also use Phenergan but not if I have to get up early, they cause me to feel groggy in the morning.

Zopiclone. You wake up, awake!

I take 10mg Amitryptiline. If I take it at 9ish I sleep from about 11 (not tonight haha) until 5.30ish. Providing I get up by 5.45 I'm fine. If not I doze back for a couple of hours and wake up sleepier.
