blood pressure - is this normal?

Does anybody have any understanding of blood pressure? I need to go to my surgery to add my BP to my records before they will repeat my HRT prescription and I checked it yesterday as a family member has a BP reader. It is 131/84. Family member (elderly) said that is very normal/good, but Dr Google seems to think it is on the edge of not so good - I'm wondering if it was a one off and I should go to the surgery, or is it a fine BP to submit by email? Thank you! (I'm early 50s and generally fit and healthy).

It depends on your age.

It's fine

It's not worrying in any way but is ever so slightly elevated. Will be fine to submit by email, and the GP may ask you to recheck it on a month or so. So many things affect BP, so you can't really go on just one random reading.

Ideally the top figure should be around 120ish but yours isn’t shockingly high and they probably won’t worry about it.

Thank you so much for your replies. Will submit it.

It's fine, but getting close to being high, high is normally anything over 140/90 unless you're diabetic when its 130/80. Which reminds me I've not taken my meds yet.

Best to take 3 readings. The readings tend to come down in the subsequent readings. Inhale deeply and exhale solely to cheat
