.........Possible ectopic? Any other experiences of this?

Ok,

So my period is 6 days late. I did a test when I was 3 days late and it was negative. I'm never ever late except when I'm pregnant. I took emergency contraception at the end of November and have had one sort of period at the beginning of December.

I now have breast pain and am lactating a little bit (like when I'm normally first pregnant.) I have waves of nausea and don't feel like drinking alcohol (shock horror!!!) a growing odd shooting/ aching pain in the lower left side of my abdomen and up the same side of my back and oddly am also wanting to (sorry about this) go to no 2 a lot, even though I'm empty so to speak.

Any ideas? Is it just a series of totally unrelated coincidences or am I going mad?

have you done another pregnancy test? Although havingsaid that, ectopic pregnancies don't always give a positive test result.

You should see a doctor - the Map can apparently increase the chances of ectopic pregnancy.

No I haven't. I can feel a bit of a sore lump but it is near my c-section scar so might just be scar tissue?

it depends on how long ago your c-section was, and do you usually have problems from the scar?

You should definitely see a doctor.

OracleInaCoracle · 07/01/2008 10:09

i think you should go to yourdoctor. there are similarities with my experience of ectopic but the abdominal pain and loose bowels would worry me tbh

LadySnotAlot · 07/01/2008 10:11

c section was 20 months ago. No pain from it normally.

I have made an appointment to see the doctor but tbh feel a bit of a tit for wandering in and saying 'Oh hello doc, I think I might be ectopically pregnant, oh and I need to poo a lot. Any ideas?'

I hate to waste NHS time.

agree with belgo, definitely go see your GP today if possible, and do another pregnancy test in the meantime.

if the pain gets any worse, or you get any watery brown discharge, or dizzy spells, then get yourself off to A&E asap.

good luck

LadySnotAlot · 07/01/2008 10:12

I've had only one spot of watery brown discharge. That was the day before yesterday.

you are not wasting nhs time, ep's are very dangerous, please call your doc

MioMao · 07/01/2008 10:13

you're not wasting NHS time at all!

ectopic pregnancy is very serious and I think your symptoms definitely justify you being checked out for it.

OracleInaCoracle · 07/01/2008 10:13

please go.

OracleInaCoracle · 07/01/2008 10:14

agree with mio. women die from unchecked ep's. off with you. NOW!

LadySnotAlot · 07/01/2008 10:15

Oh I am going. Got an appt at 11.10. Just feeling a bit silly and wondered what MNetters opinions/experiences were.....

There are no hard and fast rules for ectopics. I have read loads of peoples sotries on here, since I had mine and not one is the same. Simply put, if you are in any doubt, please go to your doctor.

belgo · 07/01/2008 10:17

don't feel silly - you have every reason to see the doctor - tell him/her everything including the brown spotting - maybe write it all down before you go so you don't forget.

MioMao · 07/01/2008 10:19

I understand how you feel, I ummed and ahhed for ages before going to the doctors when I had my EP. Unfortunately I didn't have MN in those days, otherwise I might have been treated much sooner and not ended up in surgery.

I'm very glad you've got an appointment to see your doctor so soon and hope all goes well for you!

OracleInaCoracle · 07/01/2008 10:21

with my ep i had brown spotting, diarreha and awful mid back ache.

FuriousGeorge · 07/01/2008 12:13

Just seen this.I hope you are ok & that the Dr takes your concerns seriously.I had an ectopic and had mild period pain plus watery brown discharge.Luckily my GP was on the ball & arranged a scan.

Good luck.

LadySnotAlot · 07/01/2008 15:29

Hi. They did a PG dipstick test. Negative so have been sent home. Told to go back in a few days if nothing changes.

I'm sure you'll be perfectly fine. Maybe it was because you were a bit messed up Nov/Dec that its late. Don't hesitate to call for help if you start feeling really unwell though. I dont need to tell you how bad an ectopic can be, do I. Hope you're ok.
