I was diagnosed with diverticulitis a couple of years ago after bowel screening tests. It comes & goes & I've got used to avoiding certain foods that exacerbate things. Current episode have now been in pain for 4 days solid. Nothing helps. Don't know what to do. Any suggestions? Please

Hi, I don't suffer from it myself but my Mum does. When she has a flare up she tries a liquid, low fibre diet until it settles down. I bought a book online about the diverticulitis diet. I'm not sure if that's what current medical advice would be so I'd phone your GP in the morning to get medical advice but that might help in the very short term. Antispasmodic tablets sometimes help her too. Hope it improves soon for you.

If it's much worse than normal I'd call 111. Don't want to worry you unnecessarily but my dads diverticulitis caused peritonitis and he was seriously I'll from it
