Codeine reaction?

I took two 15mg tablets (box says up to 4) and around an hour later I kept getting waves of feeling really unwell. It's so hard to even describe properly! Dizzy, nauseous and just not right really. It's kind of died down 2hrs later, I still feel unwell and the room slightly spins occasionally. I am wondering if this is actually from the codeine and if that's actually something that can happen from taking it?

Defo side effects for codeine.

Codeine makes me projectile vomit 🤢

I get this and really avoid it now- to the point I refuse it off the gp. No other words to say but i hope you're ok and can get alternate meds to help.

Sounds like codeine. I don't like taking it - it makes me feel weird and drowsy. If you have found it helped with your pain, just take one tablet. Drink plenty of water, it can make you constipated.

alexdgr8 · 27/03/2022 20:39

why were you taking it, ie what was the condition/symptoms you were seeking relied from ?

mowly77 · 29/03/2022 23:06

Yes agree it’s a reaction. It can be a bit grim. I only take it at night if I have to but thanks to metastatic breast cancer (yay!) I’ve transitioned onto morphine now. Don’t recommend that either frankly but ask your GP for alternatives for pain depending on what it was prescribed for ?

AnnaSW1 · 29/03/2022 23:28

It does the same to me.

Definitely codeine, I think that’s why some people become so addicted to it as it makes you feel really light and spaced out. I’ve been on it for weeks due to a fracture, definitely lots of water….
