Glass tooth fillings? Any good?

I’m an nhs patient and had a filling done today. I asked the dentist if it was going to be an amalgam filling as was thinking I’d probably pay extra for a white one. Dentist said he was going to do a white one at no extra charge which surprised me as it’s a molar.

When I signed after it was done it said it was a glass filling. Never heard of that before so have googled and read they are generally only temporary ones as they don’t last as well. This was definitely done as a permanent filling, will it be ok?

Have never heard of glass fillings! Maybe call the dental surgery tomorrow and ask?
