Tooth pain

Had root canal in my bottom molar about 3/4 years ago. And recently it has started to cause a dull ache. It's not unbearable , just annoying. It also comes and goes every so often. I mainly feel it when I think about it (which makes me believe the pain is psychological, due to my teeth being a big trigger point of my anxiety) I went to the dentist, who did an X-ray and said the root canal looked good and couldn't see any signs of infection. They also said the decay that caused the procedure in the first place is a thing of the past and my new diet has drastically helped my oral health! I am just so worried that maybe he missed something which will ultimately cause all my teeth to need pulling out in the future
Like I said, my biggest fear is my teeth needing to be removed and I'm so scared that the pain I'm feeling is going to cause this. Despite my dentist being a very well respected and experienced practitioner, my anxiety is still getting the better of me. (I know I probably need to see a therapist over a dentist lol) but I thought I would ask if anyone else has experienced dull unexplained tooth ache, specifically on a root canal tooth. It's been hurting on and off for about a month now!

Ahhh! Please help

Do you clench or grind you teeth at night? That could possibly cause dull aching?
But to reassure you - I had an old root canal re done through a crown and apart from the cost it was painless and trouble free.
