UTI OR NO?

I've been docs because I keep going toilet every 20 mins and I have real bad lower pain and lower back pain however nurse called me back today to say my urine is healthy and there's no signs of infection - she has said she wouldn't know why I'm getting pains and I should contact the doctor if it persists.
Not really helpful :( I'm due on in 9 days but I have never suffered with pain like this BEFORE a period. When I'm on I get pains but they never last long like this is, they said potentially I'm constipated but I doubt it because I'm going everyday sometimes twice a day.
Any ideas? :(

I would ask for a second opinion, I have heard of UTI showing false negatives before.

I did ask her on the phone if they are 100% accurate to which she said yes, she said there are no signs at all that you have an infection and everything looks normal she even said she won't be sending to the lab because it's that normal :(

Well in my opinion those are classic signs of a UTI, what else do they think it is then? I would say look these are classic signs of a UTI, so I need to find out what it is.

They only test for e coli I think. It's not that there isn't an infection, they just haven't picked it. It sounds like a UTI and if your back is hurting it could be ascending to your kidneys. In my recent experience doctors will prescribe on symptoms.

It's been in my lower back since it started, this all started Sunday and it really hurts now

Wait until your GP is closed and ring 111 or out of hours if you have one to get a second opinion.

I've messaged the doctor earlier to say I am still symptomatic but they have not responded to me since then :/

If you're in that much pain, it needs something doing. I assume you've taken painkillers and had some of the cystitis relief sachets? Or some bicarb in water if you have some?

I have been taking paracetamol but not really noticing a huge difference, i called them on Monday but it wasn't painful like this and I had just finished ovulation and they mentioned constipation so I said hmm maybe because I've just finished ovulating so from there they said just do a dip test and we will see what we can see on there, now it's negative and my symptoms have worsened the nurse has pinned it to constipation when I know it's not :(

Those tests are not accurate. According to NICE guidelines doctors should treat the symptoms. I'm tired of this ridiculous system where women are made to suffer unnecessarily.

Watch this clip from Woman's Hour, it's very interesting:

Go on Boots website and get yourself some antibiotics! If they work, you know it was a bacterial infection, if they don’t, then you’re back at square one but at least you know you need to see the dr

DogsAndGin · 24/03/2022 16:29

Nitrofurantoin or Macrobid are effective for me

Anonymousxo · 24/03/2022 16:34

Thanks everyone, doc just called me back and said they will not prescribe me anti biotics because dip test is clear and I explained I'm in a lot of pain and they've said they will call back after discussing my symptoms with a colleague as they said it's 'definitely not a UTI'

THEY HAVE PRESCRIBED ANTI BIOTICS! Don't know why it took this long, can't even collect until I finish work at 8, I hope they work :(

Good news. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Anonymousxo · 25/03/2022 13:57

Seems my pain has actually got worse today, I can feel it in my legs which is odd! Feels like really really bad period pain, I'm due on in 8 days but I've never had pain like this from a period....

I once went to urgent care for uti symptoms. Recently I had urethritis which doesn't show in diptests and needed 2 weeks antibiotics
